Higher gas taxes here thanks to Sacramento
November 22, 2017
Around this time each year, Californians would usually have seen a decrease in gas prices as stations shift from selling the more expensive summer blend gas to the cheaper winter blend. Not this year – and Sacramento Democrats are hoping you won’t notice.
Cap & trade will drive up gas prices, burden small businesses
July 21, 2017
With the recent vote by the legislature to extend the governor’s cap-and-trade proposal, there have been a number of questions about the bill’s merits Here are reasons why I opposed AB 398 (E. Garcia, D-Coachella) : AB 398 will result in higher prices at the gas pump – by as much as 73 cents per...
Sacramento Democrats Pushing a 'Sanctuary State' Bill - And Gambling With Our Safety
May 8, 2017
For years, Democratic leaders have taken California in a perilous direction. Our state has some of the highest taxes and is frequently ranked the worst place to do business by CEOs from around the nation. Democrats promote big government policies ranking the state above citizens. Tax dollars are not used as promised, resulting in struggling schools and the highest poverty rate in the nation. However, now a line is being crossed in the worst way.
Gas taxes have been siphoned away from road repairs for years
April 26, 2017
For years, Sacramento Democrats have been laser-focused on raising taxes. Echoing Ronald Reagan’s famous observation about government’s view of the economy, their mission statement should read: “If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.”
Jumpstarting Veterans’ Civilian Careers
July 25, 2016
Our nation’s veterans undergo rigorous training during military service that can be directly applied to jobs at home. After working hard and defending the freedoms we cherish, it is our duty to ensure that when these men and women come home, the return to civilian life is an easy one.
We must preserve memorials to fallen heroes
July 6, 2016
Memorials to fallen heroes can be found throughout our communities all over the country. They tell stories of selflessness and sacrifice that form the cornerstone of our shared history. It is our duty to ensure that young people today understand the significance of these individuals’ service and that they are never forgotten.
Gas prices already inflated by government; more taxes aren't the answer
April 3, 2016
Why is the price of gas so much higher in California? The answer primarily lies in a state government that tries, in President Reagan’s words, to tax and regulate everything that moves.
Friends, neighbors help where need is greatest
February 18, 2016
Each February for the last five years, I have had the privilege of participating in the Unforgettable Heart Awards, an annual event to honor charities and volunteer organizations throughout the Inland Empire for the work they do in our community.
Courage, sacrifice -- San Bernardino stands strong
December 21, 2015
On December 2, our community changed forever. We find ourselves simultaneously grieving for those lost, praying for loved ones and the injured, while coming to grips with the fact that the threat of terrorism is now a reality here at home. Yet through it all, the people of our region have demonstrated tremendous resilience as we begin to heal and rebuild our future.
California needs clean energy choices, not arbitrary mandates
November 6, 2015
As we have experienced in recent years, energy is increasingly more expensive here in California. In the Los Angeles region alone, energy prices are 45 percent higher than the nationwide average. Under new legislation passed this summer, this trend is only going to get worse.
