For years, Democratic leaders have taken California in a perilous direction. Our state has some of the highest taxes and is frequently ranked the worst place to do business by CEOs from around the nation. Democrats promote big government policies ranking the state above citizens. Tax dollars are not used as promised, resulting in struggling schools and the highest poverty rate in the nation. However, now a line is being crossed in the worst way.

For years, Sacramento Democrats have been laser-focused on raising taxes. Echoing Ronald Reagan’s famous observation about government’s view of the economy, their mission statement should read: “If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.”

As we have experienced in recent years, energy is increasingly more expensive here in California. In the Los Angeles region alone, energy prices are 45 percent higher than the nationwide average. Under new legislation passed this summer, this trend is only going to get worse.
