Sen. Morrell Honors San Bernardino's Shelley Burnach as Woman of the Year at State Capitol

SACRAMENTO – On March 12, Senator Mike Morrell (R-Rancho Cucamonga) honored Shelley Burnach of San Bernardino during the Woman of the Year ceremony at the State Capitol. Burnach was previously recognized as the 23rd Senate District Woman of the Year at the senator’s Women of Distinction ceremony held this past fall.

“Shelley and her family are dedicated volunteers in San Bernardino and in communities around the Inland Empire,” said Morrell. “Her efforts are guided by a strong sense of civic pride, a trait that she also strives to instill in others. It is a privilege to bring Shelley to Sacramento to showcase her work and thank her for her commitment to making our region a better place. We are grateful for her service.”

Burnach is involved in several local organizations that provide relief to children and families in need. She currently serves as vice president of the Colton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, as a board member of Friends of Santa Claus Inc. (and in recent years, chair of the organization’s annual Christmas Tree Lane gala), as a board trustee of the St. Bernardine Medical Center and Community Hospital of San Bernardino Foundations, and as a board member of The Unforgettables Foundation. She is also a founding board member of Women of Dignity Health and an active member of the Businesswomen’s Association of San Bernardino County.

One of her favorite outreach events is coordinating with UCLA to donate hundreds of tickets to football games so that young athletes from the area can attend. Her hope is that through this experience they will be further inspired to do well in school and aim to go to college.

“Throughout my life, I have been led by my belief in never giving up and finishing what’s started no matter the outcome because the road to success is trying,” said Burnach. “The work I have been able to do through these organizations is a reflection of the support our community has for helping those less fortunate than ourselves. I’m honored to accept this recognition and thank Senator Morrell for the opportunity to be a part of this special event.”
