SACRAMENTO – This Friday, June 20, Senator Mike Morrell, R-Rancho Cucamonga, will host the 10th Annual Women of Distinction Ceremony and Dinner. The evening will highlight the work of 75 women from throughout the Inland Empire who make a positive difference in their communities.

“Our region is incredibly blessed with remarkable women who continue to amaze me with their acts of service,” said Morrell. “It’s been a privilege to recognize them for their accomplishments. As we mark the 10th anniversary of this event, I’m grateful for the work of every woman we have honored over the years. I look forward to doing the same for many more years to come.”

Each year, the Women of Distinction Ceremony and Dinner showcases the service of women from throughout the region who demonstrate a strong commitment to their communities. Awardees are nominated by members of the public from business leaders to the volunteer at the local food bank.

This year’s ceremony will highlight the work of “Woman of the Year” Susan Zador of Loma Linda. Her nonprofit, “Visiting the Lonely Ones,” focuses on serving the residents of nursing and convalescent homes who do not receive regular visits or cards from their loved ones. More information can be found at www.visitingthelonelyones.com.

The event will also honor Redlands resident Christina Milian with the creation of the “Christina Milian Inspirational Scholarship” for women pursuing certification through a trade school. Milian is a six-year survivor of stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer who devotes her time to various organizations including the Inland Women Cancer Board and Stater Brothers Charities.

“Susan and Christina have both impacted so many lives,” continued Morrell. “Their selfless acts of kindness and positive attitudes in the face of very difficult circumstances are an inspiration to all of us. As we recognize their work – and the achievements of each of our honorees – let us also be reminded of the importance of giving back and caring for others.”

The ceremony and dinner will be held at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino (689 S. E Street, San Bernardino, CA 92408). Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
